The dining table and chairs remind me of mom's dininf furniture in the Philippines. I suppose there is an influence from Portugal or Spain in our furniture.

Here I am rewriting what I blogged about in Sarimanok (sarimanok.se).

I am rewriting about Pena National Palace right after publishing blog entries about Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Disneyland, USA and my favorite caste ever, Neuschwanstein in Germany.¬†

I am bundling them together because they are fairy tale palaces. Although of course Sleeping Beauty’s castle is not a real castle but is inspired by the real-life storybook palaces.

Pena is highly recommended by a friend of mine, and yes, I was impressed. It is after all a Unesco world heritage site and one of the seven wonders of Portugal. It is admirable how people in the old days managed to build the castle atop a hill in Sintra mountains. We could barely walk all the way up to the hill from the town of Sintra. So we took a really crowded bus (take note: all busses are packed up like sardines) just to skip walking. But the bus didn’t take us all the way up the castle. We still hade some walking to do.

I like Pena Palace but it is still not as magical Neuschwanstein.
