Summer 2015. My boss gave me an assignment – to ride a boat from Sigtuna to Birka and back.
Boats mostly come from Stockholm, Södertälje, Härjarö and Strängnäs. So it was new – for a boat to make a Sigtuna-Birka-Sigtuna trip.
It took two hours to get to Birka, and another two hours back. The boat, M/S Sjösaga, is from the shipping company Rederi Mälarstaden.
There was some food that can be ordered on board, so hunger was not an issue :-).
Along the way there are some nice sceneries, so one can go up to the deck and enjoy the view and hopefully, the sun.
I met some friendly people from Sigtuna who brought along guests – american tourists – who I interviewed for the article.
And it’s a small world. The lady from Sigtuna, Britt Thellberg, happens to be the new chairman of Sigtuna Kulturförening, which is in charge of the art gallery Kulturgården in Sigtuna. And of course, I write about art exhibits in that gallery, so now she is my contact person.
