The old office, our living room, which we called the dance floor.

I remember asking the general manager and chief editor to make me Culture Editor at Sigtunabygden.

The year was 2009. I just came back from my maternity leave and I wanted to focus on writing culture articles. There was no official culture editor before me, and I wanted to lift the culture page.

The then general manager Henrik Ahl, and the old editor-in-chief Maj-Lis Koivisto, welcomed my suggestion and gave me the position.

So I set about planning, taking photos, doing the articles and doing the lay-out for a three-page culture section. Often we had freelancers and on-the-job trainees who could take up assignments. It was by being culture editor that I got established in Sigtuna.

I was culture editor until mid-2013, when we reorganised. Section editors vanished, only one editor managed the whole local newspaper nowadays. And those of us who were not laid off became all-round reporters writing about police news, culture, features.

Now in 2016, people still send me culture tips. I appreciate that. I know many in the art and music circles in the municipality of Sigtuna. And I still write a lot about the topic.
